After constant development and testing we're very excited to release our Framework 2.0.6 update. It's built to improve your experience, focusing on the framework and Builder to make sure themes load faster. We've also made some key changes to the Builder to ensure ease of use when creating columns. It is recommended to upgrade your current version to get the best experience. Below are the details of the changes in the release.
Development
Section Post Type removed from Parallax and Flat Theme
The Themify Builder's popularity has been growing, thanks to the increasing number of positive feedbacks from users because of its simple drag & drop framework. With this in mind, we've decided to update our Parallax and Flat theme by removing the section post type, and enable the users to use the Builder to customize pages and posts. This was done to avoid confusion, allow users more frontend page editing, and make everything integrated with our simple 'drag and drop' Builder. In addition to this, we have also updated our Parallax documentation page and created a video tutorial to show users how they can recreate many of the custom designs on the Parallax homepage with shortcodes. Now everyone can take advantage of our simple and easy-to-use drag & drop Builder with our Parallax and Flat theme on all their pages.
Note: To provide backward compatibility, the Section posts and the Query Sections pages will remain functional if your site has existing Section posts for both the Parallax and Flat themes. It is now easier to build the parallax scrolling pages with the Builder by following this tutorial.
Update: The Builder Backend Mode is Back!
Since the last framework update, released last month, many users have expressed their feedbacks about the removal of the Builder backend edit mode. Simply because you want it (we heard you), we've brought back the Builder backend mode in this update! Now you can edit the Builder in both frontend and backend mode.
New Image Script
Along with this update, we've replaced the image script with a more reliable and secure script. We were using WordThumb, a PHP script that automatically crops images for you and it has been saving a lot of users' time from cropping images manually. However, its drawbacks are the security concerns and server compatibility. For this reason, we've replaced the WordThumb script with a custom script that utilizes WordPress native functions to generate images with any image dimension.
On top of that, we've added retina image support in the image options. With retina image enabled, it automatically generates and displays the 2-time resolution images for devices that have retina display. In short, your high resolution images will display nice and sharp on retina devices such as MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone, Andriod, etc.
New Music Theme + Framework Redesign + Sale!
Exciting news from the Themify camp: we'd like to introduce Music, a theme with artists, musicians, managers, and app developers in mind. Responsive and retina ready, Music introduces fullwidth video backgrounds, embedded music players, and a slick design right out of the box.
In addition, we've been working on some behind-the-scenes projects in tandem with the Music theme: Builder and Themify panels have been completely redesigned, now including a Customize panel which allows for customization of the theme with a live preview from the frontend! Builder is also coming with new features like the aforementioned fullwidth video background, pre-designed Layouts, and a new feature called Layout Parts.
Music Theme
Music is a theme that brings art to life. Built for artists, musicians, and anything related to music, Music is responsive and retina ready out of the box. We've jam-packed it full of much-requested features (like fullwidth video backgrounds) and made the Builder more powerful to make it even easier to create truly unique and beautiful websites.
WordThumb Vulnerability Fix
A new exploit that affects WordThumb (the img.php script that we use in our themes) was disclosed today.
First, we want to put emphasis on the fact that the alleged vulnerability is not true for Themify themes, since there are a number of factors that would have to be set plus a few modules enabled in your server for the exploit to become a viable one. Basically, you were never in danger.
To be cautious, we have taken immediate actions to remove all the code that, under the most pessimistic assumption, could lead to an exploit and have released an update. All Themify users are recommended to upgrade the themes.
You can read the changelog here, which includes some technical details.
