Safe to Update Themify with WordPress 5.3 and WooCommerce 3.8

WordPress 5.3 & WooCommerce 3.8 Update

There have been many changes on the WordPress scene with the newly released WordPress version 5.3 last week and the new WooCommerce version 3.8 a week prior. Before their releases, we tested their beta versions with 2 of our flagship themes, Ultra and Shoppe. There were no critical issues found based on the beta tests.

With their official new version releases, we've further tested them across our live demos using all Themify themes and plugins. We can confirm that all Themify themes and plugins are safe to update with the latest versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. If you are not using the latest Themify version, please update it along with WordPress and WooCommerce's updates. If you encounter any issues, please post it on this blog post's comment form or contact us directly.

What's New in WordPress 5.3

  • Improved accessibility on admin user interface
  • Improved Gutenberg Editor (better Table, Posts, Columns and Gallery Block)
  • A New default theme, Twenty Twenty
  • New Site Health tool alerting you to issues on your site (eg. configuration issues, PHP version compatibility, security concerns, theme/plugin issues, etc.)

For more information on WordPress 5.3's new features, check out WP Beginner and Kinsta Blog.

    Hi there Themify

Certainly Themify should have gotten a pre-release of , especially WordPress to test with seeing WordPress 5.3 was released a week ago and as a Themify customer I just upgraded WordPress not knowing Themify still hasn’t tested things from their side.

Just thinking in terms of future WordPress upgrades that might “break” things that I certainly don’t need to be testing (like Themify core).

If it’s policy for “plugins” to be tested after a new WordPress release, please advise so in future I know to delay upgrading WordPress on my end until I’ve been notified by all “plugins”.

      Hi Andre,

We did test our themes and plugins with the pre-release beta. Didn’t find any critical issues (there were a few minor interface styling issues). We fixed all of them and put them on live demos with the latest WP release as the final test. If there are critical issues, we will post them on the forum’s sidebar and fix them immediately.

We have to conduct tests on the released version before publicly announce this as sometimes they might change things in the official release. In the future, if you have any doubt about updating WordPress, feel free to email us and we will let you know.

      Hi Ivan,

Please deactivate your third-party plugins, if that doesn’t fix the issue, please disable Script Minification in Themify Settings > Theme Settings > Performance & Minified Scripts: https://share.getcloudapp.com/geurjWpe then if the issue still persists, please contact us via Support Forum: https://themify.me/forum or email: https://themify.me/contact ( Theme/Plugin Support ), because we may need to access your website’s admin panel to troubleshoot the issue
